I have created a new resouce page on my website after veiwing Jenni's video on the compainon website which gave us great examples on how to polish our website. I have encluded a list of useful resouces that I have used or discovered during the creation of my website. I have also created a list of authentic resources and pdf files for information on authntic learning that I read or used over the course of this unit. Lastly I have added some you tube clips which I found helpful with my website. I undervalued you tube before commencing this unit and it was only once we started this course and speaking with colleges that I discovered you can learn just about anything on you tube. It was realyt helpful when I came up against technology challenges like trying to add a youtube clip to a powerpoint presentation or how to download toolbars and add pictures.

I can't believe this is the last week of semester 1 before study break and then its exams. I have not set an exam for 20 years so I am a little apprehensive but with anything new I have learnt to embrace and learn from each experience. I am going to print of example examsfrom the LSM from each of my units and use that as a guide to study. Along with all my podcast lectures which I will listen to again and revisit my notes and textbooks.

Today in tutorials the class will be presenting all the Wiki creations but unfortunately I have a sick daughter so I have emailed my team and Jenni. I am disappointed I will not get to view them but I will go into the wikispace and have a look that wa.y Now I am just going to check over my website and then submit!

I have just been polishing up my website for submitting and realised that at the begining of this unit technology based activities use to take me a lot of time and guessing but now I am not only able to do many new things but I am excited to learn new technologies and embrace them. I feel really pleased and proud of mysefl that I have come so far!

Today our group meet in the library to finalise the presentation of our Wikispace resource. We needed to reference, add pictures and create a power point narration. Nikki and I used creative commons Flickr for the pictures which I had not use before so it was another resource I have learnt and a great tool for future use. We had taken a lot of photos ourselves to add to our wiki which shows the process we have taken to create and present. While Nikki and I were polishing and referencing Chelsea, Paul and Monique finished of the power point presentation and wrote the script then I did the narrative as it was decided my voice worked best for the presentation which we used voice memo then I emailed it to Paul and he attached it to our power point presentation, getting the time was slightly challenging but as a team we resolved the issue and are all very pleased with our final result. Wikispace has been a great resouce for our whole team to contribute and to without any geographical issues.

I feel very pleased with the work we are presenting, there is an abundance of information, guidance and advice in our wikispace and a lot of time, effort, collaboration and research has gone into it. I have learnt many new ways to present creative resources and gained more skills in reseach and technologies. I now am not fearful of technology and am excited to learn new things.

“Goodbye teacher “was a lecture presented to us by Jan Herrington which was extremely helpful in assisting us with the task of establishing an authentic learning environment.

When designing an authentic learning environment we have to consider what the student does, how are they using the technology, how long does it take, collaboration, final product and is there a show case. We have tried to showcase all these elements in the wikispace resource. With the children using multimeia as a presentation tool it should engage them and as a team the students have to create the presention which allows them to collaboarate and be creative. I think this is giving our group the ability to to cover different learning styles too.

Feeling excited and releived to be on the right track with this assignment as at first we were questioning ourselves but after some lectures and discussions with Jenni feel we are well on our way to presenting a really great sharable resouce.

Rupert Murdoch was quoted as saying let’s bring classrooms into the 21^st century. You need to centre the learning around the learner using technology to facilitate the authentic learning experience. Bring the task to a real life experience through the use of technology.

Research TechnologiesAssignment 3a has certainly been a challenge, firstly trying to grasp the concept of what is expected in this task, furthermore scheduling group times, discussions, ideas and also finalisation. I was fortunate to be grouped with Nikki, Monique, Chelsea and Paul to work on our group assignment. We were required to create a authentic learning resouce to share with other teachers. So our group first though we would look at the skeletal system but after some researcher decided as a team too look at a broarder concept to cover move learning areas. We decided on the topic of travelling arounbd Australia as this allowed us to incoporate maths, literacy, IT and georgraphy with many other elements. We checked to ciriculiam and ensured we followed it while still ensuring it to be a authentic task.

We decided on a task that would be covered over a term period and engage the children in the use of multimedia with the final presentation from the children being a powerpoint presenttion with a kid blog used as an electronic diary for them to reflect. The students were to work in teams which allows for collaboration. Our team refered to week 4 and week 6 lectures on authentic learning to make sure we were on track.

Learning with technology lecture in week 4 covered the elements of an authentic task and through using this information we came up with incorporaating the following elements into our task -
Authentic context - Purpose/motivation, travel and discover Australia
Authentic activity - Real world relevence, possible to acheive
Mutliperspective - Different point of views and ideas from students
Collaboration - Students work in groups
Reflection - Online Kidblog for expressive language
Articulation - Ongoing discussions on the next step/understanding
Coaching/Scaffolding - Ongoing teacher-student support and student - student support
Authertic Assessment - Integrate task, final presentation

This unit so far has taught me an abundance of new technologies and this assignment was no exception. We have used Wikispaces as our technology platform for presenting our resource. I have also discovered all the wonderful things that you can do on google maps, I have utilised the learning federation along with other interactive whiteboard sites such as gecko interactive.

At university today we had Rob Phillips present Learning with multimedia, which was a very interactive lecture and highlighted the advances in teaching with technology as a partner in the learning process, students learning with technology to support their learning. The learning federation is an example of technology supporting learning addressing the different learning styles and strategies. Multimedia facilitates real life exploration and exposure, allowing for creativity and demonstration.

I have been allocated the task of the learning federation for assignment 3 so Rob's lecture has helped guide me in the direction I need to go. I will discuss with my team the ideas of all the different learning styles and literacy levels we will beable to aim at along with individualising activities to cover georgraphy, mathematics, IT's and literacy.

Assignment 3 requires us to work in teams and I have been fortunate enough to be grouped with Nikki, Chelsea, Paul and Monique. We will be working on creating a useful resouce for teachers to use in the teaching of an authentic task. We first discusses the skeletal system as our topic task but after some researcher discovered there was not enough for use to incorporate as many of the authentic elements which we received for Jan in our lecture in week 4 titled Learning with technology.

Wikispaces is the platform for assignment 3a to be presented on and I have found this resource to be very user friendly and I had no troubole navigating around it and adding links, pictures of screen shots. As a communication and resource tool I am finding wikispaces to be great. It was very useful watching the tutorial for week10 as it was devoted to wikispaces.

Well I have had at look at the rubric, read over the unit guide and looked on the discussion forum and checked my links so I think I might be ready to submit. I found the search strategies such as Murdoch Find it, Google Scholar and ERIC, where I gained a large amount of learning as I had not used most of the search engines before. I did find endnotes frustrating to start with but now see it a invaluable resource. I have also learned to view from different disciplines.

After spending quite a bit of time trying to figure out what I was doing wrong on endnotes when working on my researcher task 2, I decided a trip to the library was in order. With the children in tow I headed on down to Murdoch Rockingham library and the wonderful Pim guided me through endnotes. It was such a simple thing I was doing I was bring up the correct screen but just not processing any futher as I thought I was wrong but it was not the case, yet it had thrown me completely. It just goes to show persistance is priceless. I now feel confident using endnotes and realise what a wonderful program it is. The end result!
